A course is given to ten - mostly unschooled - locals in Mali in a community nearby Moptie who learned everything about the design and construction of a small wind turbine based on the design of Hugh Piggott (http://www.scoraigwind.com). This project contributes to the goals of the Rondom baba stichting (www.rondombaba.nl). This group will start manufacturing these wind turbines as a profession, that will open doors to supply electricity to the rural poor, that is absent untill now.

The workshop gained hands-on experience in the following areas to the participants: Carving the wooden blades, winding coils and fitting magnets into purpose built alternators for windpower. Besides fabrication, also other aspects like tower erection are involved in creating an operating working wind turbine.

The project is still in "fragile" starting up phase, but sofar it looks all promising, having successfully finished their fourth turbine (by them selves) and sold the first one.
